Fiji Times: Pilot Missing

In December 5 2006, on the day that Fiji was overtaken by a military coup, a Robinson 44 helicopter crashed off the coast of Nadi. The Fijian government appointed Andrew McGregor as Investigator in Charge (IIC) under the international ICAO convention. The National Transportation Safety Board of USA is assisting with the investigation under Appendix 13 of ICAO and although the investigation has not yet concluded, the NTSB has issued recommendations to both the FAA and the manufacturer in order to address deficiencies which the investigation to date has revealed.  These recommendations may be viewed at:
